The Soviet Garden at Möja Bio
On Saturday, September 7th, B2B Doc will visit Möja Bio and invites you to a screening of The Soviet Garden, a documentary from Moldova that dives deep into the country’s complicated past with warmth and humor.
During his investigation into his grandmother's mysterious death, filmmaker Dragoș Turea uncovers a secret scientific plan—Nikita Khrushchev's ambition to transform Moldova into a "Soviet garden" by using atomic energy in agriculture. It is revealed that for many years, the use of radiation to create mutations in seeds and fruit was kept secret, with no regard for the potential consequences for those who would consume the crops.
The Soviet Garden, Dragoș Turea, 2019, 76 min
Languages: Moldovan & Russian with English subtitles
6:00 PM Möja Bio opens
7:00 PM Screening of "The Soviet Garden" followed by a discussion

Baltic to Black Sea Documentary Network is a Swedish non-profit organization with activities in Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Our mission is primarily to strengthen the role of documentary filmmakers as advocates for human rights and freedom of expression in conflict-ridden areas. For ten years, we have been helping filmmakers from these countries to develop, complete, and distribute documentary films around the world.
To celebrate B2B Doc's 10th anniversary, we have received support from Region Stockholm to showcase outstanding documentary films—and to spark interest in stories from Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. The screening at Möja Bio is a preview of the B2B Doc Film Days, which will take place in the beginning of November at Filmhuset in Stockholm.
Crossing Borders Film Lab
Crossing Borders Film Lab
The Crossing Borders Film Lab took place in Tago, a village in the mountainous region of Adjara, Georgia. Twenty-two filmmakers from Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, France, Georgia, Moldova, Paraguay, Poland, Sweden, Tajikistan, the UK, and Ukraine gathered there for the last week of July to explore collective filmmaking under the guidance of Alina Gorlova and Yelizaveta Smith from Tabor, Ukraine.
This truly cinematic location was chosen to ignite creative collaborations across borders, and the immediate results were remarkable. On our final night in Tago, we screened an hour of the footage shot during the week for the local villagers. The project now moves into its next phase, offering travel grants to some participants who submit project ideas to B2B Doc.
Some of the short films created in Tago will be showcased during the B2B Doc Film Days in Stockholm in early November, where we will also invite some participants to further discuss the topic of creative collaboration.
