Emergency Residency for female Ukrainian filmmakers

B2B Doc has been granted support for an Emergency Residency for female Ukrainian filmmakers, either who live in exile or who wish to find peace outside Ukraine. The Emergency Residency is primarily located in Czech Republic in collaboration with the Institute of Documentary Film, but solutions may also be found elsewhere. The programme will run for 10 months starting during the summer and is funded by the Swedish Institute.

The residency will give documentary filmmakers a chance to recover and work on film projects in their own pace. Opportunities will also be made for those who may need to bring their child/ren. The residency programme targets filmmakers who have existing film material that needs further development. Creative documentary film projects that have strong social messages with potential of having a strong public impact, both on the Ukrainian society and the rest of the world. This will include film projects that B2B Doc is already supporting.

We encourage all interested documentary filmmakers to send an e-mail to ilja@b2bdoc.se with some words about yourself and your specific needs.

Background:

Eleven Swedish organisations have been granted project funding to, in collaboration with Ukrainian cultural organisations, contribute to rebuilding the country.

During the spring, the Swedish Institute carried out an open call towards Swedish organisations with established collaborations in the Ukraine, organisations with good knowledge of the region and the capacity to handle challenges linked to the participants' situation.

- Ukrainian cultural workers are faced with a very difficult situation. With this support, we hope to make it easier for them to continue working, in or outside their country, says Madeleine Sjöstedt, General Director of the Swedish Institute.
