Crossing Borders

Good news! B2B Doc has just been awarded a substantial grant from the Swedish Institute to bring a brand new initiative into fruition, together with our much valued partner, Sakdoc, in Georgia. Going by the name of Crossing Borders, this is a two year long project that will officially start in August.

Building on our extensive network of filmmakers in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, B2B Doc will widen its activities with the new Crossing Borders project. ts main goal is to encourage and lay the ground for creative collaborations across borders, specifically between filmmakers in our region and those from Europe.

Differing from our previous activities where the goal is usually focused on reaching out to international producers and commissioners, this initiative puts its focus on strengthening actual film teams. One of the highlights of the project will bring together a cross-border group of directors, cinematographers or other creative members of a filmteam, to participate in a practical film residency set in a cinematic location in Georgia. Here, we intend to create the right creative space for like-minded filmmakers to meet, collaborate and ultimately plant seeds for future collaborations. With its official start in August, the first stage of our Creative cross-border collaboration initiative, will kick off with scouting for filmmakers who are open to expanding horizons and are genuinely interested in our region as the ground for cinematic collaborations.

Alongside our own scouting, an official call for applications will be announced later in the year.
